A centrepiece event of the 2017 Thurles Sports Festival will be the re-enactment of the first All-Ireland Hurling final. This took place between Thurles representing Tipperary and Meelick representing Galway. The re-enactment will include a vintage parade through the town of Thurles, a short dramatic presentation of the historic context of the match and a re-enactment of the match itself. Come and see the parade including vehicles and dress from the end of the 20th Century, the players in traditional playing attire and using the old-style hurley and many other groups and individuals. Parade Starting at St. Patrick’s College with parade through Liberty Square to Sarsfield’s Clubhouse and match on Sarsfield’s Pitch. And it’s all FREE!!
